40 years of robotic waterjet cutting

40 years of waterjet technology, customer relationships and continuous development

In 1986, Mikael Schröter joined what was then Bestmatic as a robot programmer.

At the time, industrial robots were still something new, and robotic waterjet cutting had only been in use for a few years. In photographs from those early days, Mikael can be seen wearing the white supervisor’s coat – a clear sign of status in the workshop of the 1980s.

Since then, Mikael has worked as a project manager, technical sales support and Service Manager. Since 2017, he has held the position of Senior Sales Manager.

Mikael’s work has also taken him around the world – from Europe to India, Thailand and South Africa, as well as the USA, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

“Whatever role I have had, the customer has always been at the centre. It is about listening, understanding the customer’s problem and helping to find a solution.”

From Internship to Employment

From Internship to Employment – Hugo’s Journey Toward Becoming a CAD Designer

When Hugo Danielsson first visited Shape as a secondary school student, an early interest in CAD and technology was sparked. A few years later, he walked through the doors again – this time as an intern. This autumn, he will return once more, now as an employed colleague.

– I actually visited Shape back when I was in seventh or eighth grade, and I already thought CAD seemed really interesting back then, Hugo says.

Today, Hugo is 21 years old and studying to become a CAD designer through a higher vocational education program. After graduating from upper secondary school, he initially started studying engineering at university, but quickly realized that it was the practical and creative side of design and construction that appealed to him the most.

Working as an Automation Engineer at Shape Process Automation EMEA – Experience, Innovation and Teamwork

Working as an automation engineer at Shape Process Automation EMEA means moving constantly in the space where technology, creativity and problem-solving meet. This becomes clear when we sit down with two of our colleagues: Magnus Spåre, who began his automation journey back in the 1980s, and Simon Olsson, who represents the new generation of automation engineers and has only just started his career. Their stories meet somewhere between experience and curiosity – and together they paint a vivid picture of what life as an automation engineer at Shape is really like.
