Automated Nut welding
Nut welding to Volvo
Volvo invests in another flexible nut cell with robots and welding machines. 16 pcs. various details must be screwed into the cell. The operator places components on the in going conveyor and the first robot picks using a Cognex camera. Next, the robot goes to the nut welding where it welds X number of nuts and leaves the component when it has clamped the last nut. The second robot picks the part in the welding machine, welds and goes to the checker system for nut control. The component is then placed on the out going conveyor and the operator packs the compoents to a box.
The project commitment consisted of:
- 2 Cognex vision cameras
- 2 Cognex Checker systems
- 4 transport lanes
- 4 used robots from Volvo
- 8 used welding machines from Volvo
- 12 grippers
- 2 new OP panels
- Pilz security system
- Control cabinet
- Fences, gates and emergency stops
