Rolling machine to Stora Enso

Shape Process Automation has been trusted to carry out extensive rebuilds on three Vari-Top rolling machines at Stora Enso in Hylte. The rebuilds on RM 4,6 and 7 consisted of replacing the old automation and positioning systems with a new S7 system with an integrated operator interface in WinCC Runtime. Previously, 32 angle sensors were used per machine to indicate the position of bending stations and knives. The angle sensors are now replaced with 3 magnetostrictive measuring rods per machine. These measuring rods work completely without mechanical contact. At the same time, new pneumatic control was installed for bending stations and pressure rollers. The rebuilds were done in consultation with maintenance and operator staff to facilitate the transition between the systems and get the best possible visibility.
